Top Ten Tuesday | Book Titles that Would Make Great Song Titles

This tag was created by The Broke and the Bookish and now it’s hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl.

Hey guys! I hope you are all having a wonderful day ☺️ ! Today I bring you another Top Ten Tuesday. It’s actually been a while since I did this tag, but this week’s topic seemed really interesting, so I couldn’t skip it. There are so many book titles that would be great song titles, so it was hard for me to narrow it down to ten. However, I tried to include novels that I rarely mention so that, if you guys didn’t know about them before, you will now!

#10. One to Watch

One to Watch by Kate Stayman-London is a romance novel about a plus-size girl being the star of a Bachelorette type of show (for the first time in TV history). It’s a beautiful journey of self-love and acceptance. Very cure, adorable, and fun.

For some reason I think this would be the perfect title for a Disney Channel song or something like that. I don’t mean this in a bad way, not at all. I love Disney and the movies that they make. I am a sucker for their soundtracks. I think this song would carry a very powerful message about overcoming expectations and surprising everyone that doubts you.

#9. Lucky in Love

Lucky in Love by Kasie West is about a girl with a normal enough life, and one day she impulsively buys a lottery ticker, expecting nothing of it. But her life is turned completely upside down when she finds out that she won.

This title remains me of the movie Just My Luck with Lindsay Lohan and Chris Pine. It was one of my favorites growing up and I still love it. So, in my head I imagine this song being about many unfortunate things happening in someone’s life, but then things start looking up once they find love. It doesn’t necessarily have to be falling in love, it could be about finding love in anything. A profession, family, friends, a passion… That would make it much more original and interesting.

#8. All Stirred Up

All Stirred Up by Brianne Moore revolves around a Susan, who has to take over her grandfather’s restaurant. However, when she’s about to reopen it, she finds out that her ex boyfriend (also her grandfather’s former protégé) is opening his own restaurant in the same city.

Honestly, I have no idea what this song would be about because I haven’t read the book. I think this would be a good title because it’s similar to Bob Marley’s Stir it Up. Is that bad? Anyways, maybe it could be about someone describing how inspired or passionate they feel about something or someone. I’m just improvising, though.

#7. Sweet Peril

Sweet Peril by Wendy Higgins is the second book in the Sweet trilogy. I don’t really want to say much else cause then there would be spoilers, but this series follows the children of demons, more specifically the children of the seven deadly sins.

For obvious reasons, this title immediately reminds me of Sweet Creature by Harry Styles. So the only thing I can think about now is that. Let’s just say I imagine they would be pretty similar.

#6. How I Live Now

In How I Live Now by Meg Rosoff, we follow Daisy, who went to London to visit her aunt and cousins. But, when a bomb strikes, her and her cousins are trapped in the farm. Instead of panicking, they create their own safe haven and grow closer than ever. Unfortunately, the war hasn’t ended and, eventually, it reaches them as well. This is a good novel, but not exactly my cup of tea.

This would probably be a retrospective song. What I mean by this is that I picture this POV as regretting something they did or that happened to them in the past. In this song, they would be describing how their situation has changed and how much they’ve grown.

#5. La Chica de Pablo

La Chica de Pablo by Naiara Domínguez is the typical ‘normal girl and rockstar instantly fall in love’ trope. It is very fun to read, but VERY angsty. Despite that, I do remember having a great time reading it.

This would definitely be a Spanish Pop Song. Or maybe pop rock. There is a type of song in this genre in which a guy has a huge crush on someone, but they’re unattainable. I think this title would be perfect for that kind of song.

#4. Everything, Everything

Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon tells the story of a girl who is sick from a very rare disease and therefore can’t leave her house or have any direct contact with the outside world. However, everything changes when a new family moves in next door.

Originally, I was out of ideas for this, but I just got an amazing one (based on my standards obviously). I think a nice song with this title could be about a parent/child relationship. Kind of like the song Everything Changes from Waitress. It would be cute and tender, about how they’re willing to do everything and give up everything for their kid. A tear-jerker song.

#3. The Honey-Don’t List

The Honey-Don’t List by Christina Lauren follows the assistants of a very important couple that works in the home remodeling business. However, their marriage is in the rocks and they can’t stand each other. This is a romance so, while helping their bosses keep their secret hidden, our main characters fall in love. I haven’t read this book yet, but it sounds very interesting.

This would definitely be a country song. I can hear it in my head; an upbeat rhythm with a fun melody. It would be a breakup song, but with no heartbreak. I imagine one of the people involved is trying to win back their significant other. But they’re not having it. The same vibes as We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together by Taylor Swift.

#2. Things Fall Apart

Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe is a wonderful story that shines a light on African culture amidst the economic, social, and political threat of colonizers and invaders. This is truly an incredible novel and I definitely recommend it. Unfortunately I don’t remember a lot of what happens, so I really want to reread it soon.

In my head, I think it would be a soft melody about things going wrong. However, it would have an underlying message of strength and perseverance. I am already in love with this idea. I love ballads. When I think of what this song would be like, Words Fail from Dear Evan Hansen comes to mind.

#1. The Moon and More

The Moon and More by Sarah Dessen is a story about finding yourself and fighting for your goals. In this novel our main character struggles with her family’s clashing opinions about her future, and so she must find out what is best for her and what will really make her happy in the end.

I want to give you the moon and more… Those would be GORGEOUS lyrics. Unsurprisingly, I imagine this as a love song. Probably one of them telling the other how they’re willing to do anything for them and love them despite their flaws or anything that might happen. Am I too cliché?
