AUTUMN

Sure, watching a baby come shooting through a narrow opening isn’t everybody’s cup of iced white chocolate mocha. But for me? It’s a dream come true. Becoming a midwife has always been the goal. I’ve been through every up and down imaginable, but with only three years left, I’ll be damned if I let anything or anyone stand in my way.

I wasn’t prepared for Dr. Thorne Mayson.

He’s the top obstetrician in the state with a reputation to match. He’s handsome and cocky, and not at all what I was expecting. He holds the power to ruin me, but just how much am I willing to risk to win it all?

DR. THORNE MAYSON

They all told me the stories, and I didn’t believe it until I watched each of my cousins get taken down by the BOOM!.

One after another, they dropped like flies, falling in love, and finding their forever. That wasn’t going to happen to me. I’m at the top of my game. I’m the most sought after obstetrician in Nashville. I have too much going on, too much to focus on. I thought I had it all … until Autumn.

Until Autumn is part of Aurora Rose Reynolds’s Happily Ever Alpha World. If you loved Until November, then you will want to read Until Autumn.

Until Autumn is a great story about perseverance, family, and believing in yourself. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting the protagonist and following her in her journey to become the best at her profession.

In terms of plot, it was pretty strong. Although the romance was obviously the main aspect of it all, the author took her time with each scene and tried her best to expand this world. Also, I really liked that it was set a little back in time. With this I mean that, recently, many of the Happily Ever Alpha World novels have been related to the second generation of the Mason family, but this one revolved around the originals, November and Asher, from Until November. It was wonderful to get to see them all again, as always.

On that note, I admire Sheridan Anne’s professionalism. When the arcs were first sent out, there were inconsistencies in the plot that didn’t align with the events of the Until Series, and many reviewers pointed it out. Not long afterwards, new editions of the arcs were distributed and the author clarified that some mistakes had been fixed, meaning all the inconsistencies were now gone. I think she handled this situation in the best way possible and listened to the readers as they voiced their concerns. That was a huge reason why I decided to give her such a high rating as well.

Anyway, the characters were probably my least favorite part of the story, but they weren’t bad. As I said before, reading from Autumn’s perspective was great and I liked how feisty she was. But Thorne… I didn’t like so much. And it’s not his fault. Their dynamic was kind of a student/teacher relationship that turned into more. This has always been one of my least favorite tropes, and when I like them, it’s because the circumstances are very specific and inconvenient. Unfortunately, here it was pretty evident from the get-go and made me a little uncomfortable. Still, nothing over the moon. Picture some Grey’s Anatomy type of thing.

Overall, this was great! I had a lot of fun with it and it is one of my favorite spinoff novels (from this world) so far. I definitely recommend it if you like fast-paced, medical romance novels.
