Ashmita’s Questions

#1. What was your most recent 5 star read?

I’m that annoying person that talks over and over again about the same books because I love them so much πŸ˜‚ That means that I’ve talked about my most recent 5 star read about a hundred times already. Anyways, it is A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire by Jennifer L. Armentrout. I adored this book. Definitely one of my favorites of 2020 and even though I read it about a month ago, I already want to read it again.

#2. What is the biggest book on your TBR?

I’m a mood reader, so I don’t have the biggest TBR. However, I do add some books to the list just to keep them on my radar, and so that I don’t forget about them. At the moment, the three longest books there are A House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Mass, Little Women by Louisa May Alcott, and Chain of Iron by Cassandra Clare.

No, I haven’t read Little Women yet 😬 Please don’t come for me. I really want to though, I’m just a little intimated by how long it is, considering that it already takes me a really long time to get through classics.

#3. Favorite blog post that you have ever written (add a link as well so I can read it)?

I’m still learning a lot about blogging, like the type of things I want to write about and what my writing voice/style is, so I think most of my posts are still raw and not that great. Despite that, I am particularly proud of my discussion post on the ending of Verity by Colleen Hoover. That book blew me away and I still think about it all of the time. However, it is filled with spoilers, so if you haven’t read the book you probably shouldn’t read that post. So a second one that I really liked was If you liked that, read this – Romance Edition. I had a lot fun putting that one together too ☺️

#4. Favorite Ship?

I’m sorry, I can’t pick one!! I love love πŸ₯° So I have an absurd amount of ships πŸ˜… I think it would be harder for me to pick couples that I don’t like or want together. Still, some of my all time favorites from both books and TV are Bellamy and Clarke (The 100), Magnus and Alec (Shadowhunters), Percy and Annabeth (Percy Jackson), Blaine and Kurt (Glee), and Monica and Chandler (Friends). Yes, I am basic, but honestly, I am that person that always ships every single couple, so I could be mentioning ships forever and ever.

#5. Which fictional character would you like to date?

I’m currently rewatching the first few seasons of Arrow with my mom so that I can finally finish the show. This means that I’m currently obsessed with Oliver Queen. He is one of my favorite characters, and he’s pretty cute as well. So, at the moment, he would be my pick.

#6. Tell me three things about yourself. (not related to books).

Did I just have to look up on Google fun facts to share about yourself? Yes, yes I did. I’m not the most interesting person πŸ˜…

Number one: I’ve played the piano for over ten years and I also play a tiny bit of violin and guitar. Music and singing are two of my favorite things in the world. In fact, I wanted to major in Music for about 3/4 of my life. It was only a few years ago that I decided against it. Still, this is a huge part of my personality. I spend almost every moment of my day singing (I’m not great, but I love it).

Number two: I am terrified of cockroaches. I don’t like bugs in general, and I always try to stay as far away from them as possible (even though it’s hard to do that in the climate I live in). But cockroaches are a whole other level. I cannot even look at them πŸ˜– Someone has to agree with me on the fact that they’re basically DINOSAURS!!! How long have they been around for?? They are absurd, I don’t like them.

Number three: I’ve seen ghosts (spooky, I know 😏). Many of you will probably think I’m crazy and won’t believe me, but I swear I have. I’ve seen three or two ghosts in my life (there’s one account I’m not entirely convinced of). I can tell you that it was scary and I don’t ever want to see one again. I did not enjoy those experiences.

#7. Do you have a favorite go-to place? Describe it.

I’m an introvert… Which means I don’t go out much (even before quarantine). To make matters worse, I live in a city where there’s not much to do besides going out to restaurants. But I guess that if I had to pick somewhere I would say… either the Movie Theater or my Best Friend’s house.

I picked the 🍿 movie theater 🍿 because that’s where my friends and I would always get together, even if we didn’t end up watching anything, and I have very good memories there. And my best friend’s house is very special to me for obvious reasons, but also because she lives in another city that is hours away from where I live. It’s always very special whenever we get to see each other ☺️ She lives in a large building and (fun fact) more than half of her family lives in that same building. And I mean grandparents, cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews… EVERYONE. So it’s like one big get-together all of the time. It’s very chaotic, but very homey as well πŸ˜„

#8. Do you annotate your books? Care to share, how/why?

99% of the books I read are ebooks because they are far more convenient and affordable. That means that I do take notes, but I’m definitely not the best example of how anyone should do that πŸ˜‚ I literally just jot down whatever it is I’m thinking when I read a particular scene or line. Most of the time they are ridiculous comments that are merely for me to complain or gush, and only a few actually describe my overall thoughts and are helpful for my reviews. But when I’m reading a physical book I don’t take any notes. It’s hard for me to put down a book just to write something down. It can be a bit annoying.

#9. Think of a happy memory. Maybe your happiest one. And tell me which book you are reminded of when you think of it.

My happiest memories are whenever I’m with my family. I’m very close to my parents and I love them more than anything in this world πŸ₯° So, I was always the happiest when we were all together sharing and having a great time. Whether that be watching movies or going out and doing fun things, it was my favorite thing ever. I think that a book that reminds me of that is Lola and the Boy Next Door for some reason? I just think that Lola’s relationship with her parents is beautiful. I can really relate to their bond.

#10. Why did you start blogging and why did you continue?

The idea of having a blog has been on the back of my mind for a really long time (like most people who end up having a blog). I think I didn’t do it sooner because I lacked the confidence, and I thought that no one would really care about what I had to say πŸ˜• But, at the end I decided to go for it because I literally don’t know anyone that I can talk with about books, and I couldn’t stand it anymore πŸ˜… I started this blog with hopes of meeting new people and sharing my thoughts in a community that would appreciate them. So far, I’m loving it and I’m continuing to do it because everyday I discover new things that I like about blogging, which keep me inspired and push me to try to be better. Also, I love writing and I think this is great practice.

#11. Lastly, tell me a weird/fun fact about you.

I suck at these type of questions. A weird thing about me…? Well, something that people always say is unusual is that I eat all of the toppings off of my pizza before actually eating the pizza πŸ• I’ve never met anyone that does that too, but I only do it about 95% of the time.
