Goodreads Synopsis

From #1 New York Times bestselling author of It Ends with Us comes a poignant novel about family, first love, grief, and betrayal that will touch the hearts of both mothers and daughters.

Morgan Grant and her sixteen-year-old daughter, Clara, would like nothing more than to be nothing alike.

Morgan is determined to prevent her daughter from making the same mistakes she did. By getting pregnant and married way too young, Morgan put her own dreams on hold. Clara doesn’t want to follow in her mother’s footsteps. Her predictable mother doesn’t have a spontaneous bone in her body.

With warring personalities and conflicting goals, Morgan and Clara find it increasingly difficult to coexist. The only person who can bring peace to the household is Chris—Morgan’s husband, Clara’s father, and the family anchor. But that peace is shattered when Chris is involved in a tragic and questionable accident. The heartbreaking and long-lasting consequences will reach far beyond just Morgan and Clara.

While struggling to rebuild everything that crashed around them, Morgan finds comfort in the last person she expects to, and Clara turns to the one boy she’s been forbidden to see. With each passing day, new secrets, resentment, and misunderstandings make mother and daughter fall further apart. So far apart, it might be impossible for them to ever fall back together.

My Thoughts

I am a little bit biased when it comes to Colleen Hoover books. I love her so much. I think she is an amazing person and an amazing writer. Her brain is so weird but so amazing. I honestly will never comprehend how one person can come up with so many different and original plots.

The best way to describe this book is Gilmore Girls. MAJOR Gilmore Girls vibes.

Due to the faith that I have on this author I don’t read synopsis or reviews for any of her books. They are automatically must reads for me. This, without a doubt, makes me enjoy the books a thousand times more. So, please, please, pleaaasseee… Don’t read the synopsis.

Regretting You tells a beautiful story of a mother and her daughter. They don’t get along all the time, and due to circumstances that happen at the beginning of the book, their relationship is worse than ever.

This book is real. The relationship between Clara and Morgan is real. And that is the best part of this book. They fight and they disagree, but, at the end of the day, they love each other more than anything in the world.

I must admit, Clara annoyed me for most of the book. There is this huge secret to which she doesn’t know the truth, and I understand that she doesn’t want to acknowledge it either. It doesn’t really bother me that she refuses to see what is truly going on, but WHY does she have to blame her mom?? She gives Morgan so much crap about what happened and she treats her so bad throughout 90% of the book. That really annoyed me. But, in all honesty, that is my personal opinion because in that situation, her attitude is kind of justified and expected. Regardless, I think she was being incredibly judgmental.

I believe that the main storyline centers around Morgan and Clara’s relationship, but this is a romance book, so they each have their own love interests in the book.

This is a beautiful plot with incredible writing and characters. I heavily recommend not reading the synopsis. That way you will enjoy the book so much more and be surprised with every single thing that happens.
