Halloween Book Tag 2020

Happy Halloween everyone 👻!! Even though Halloween isn’t one of my favorite holidays, I’ve always loved dressing up and eating lots of sweets, and the spooky season has definitely caught my eye a bit more this year (even though I put up my Christmas tree about two weeks ago). Because of that, I couldn’t let today just pass by, so I thought it would be fun to do the Halloween Book Tag 🎃. No one tagged me, but I don’t care. I think it’s a great way to celebrate today.

This tag was created by Naomi The Book Lover on YouTube.

🔥 Carving pumpkins- What book would you carve up and light on fire? 🔥

This is intense. I don’t think I would actually do this to any book, considering that it would mean I hate it and hate is a strong word. Of course, there are books that I really don’t like, but I wouldn’t light them on fire. However, I do have to pick one for the prompt, so for irony’s sake, I would light on fire Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury.

🍫 Trick or treat- What character is a treat, what character is a trick? 🍫

To say that I’m confused by this prompt is a major understatement. What do you mean a treat and a trick?? I’ll try my best, but please let me know if I’m doing it wrong.

Instead of choosing one character for each, I chose one for both. I think that Nico DiAngelo from the Percy Jackson series is both a treat and trick. Nico is one of my favorite characters ever, and I think he is wonderful. However, we know that he does have a mysterious/mischievous side. He’s not always very clear on his intentions or what pushes him to do something, and I think that is very interesting.

🍬 Candy corn- What book is always sweet? 🍬

A book that is ALWAYS sweet is Wonder by R.J. Palacio. This story is beautiful and so heartwarming. The movie is an incredible adaptation as well.

👻 Ghosts- What character would you love to visit you as a ghost? 👻

** SPOILERS FROM CHAIN OF GOLD **

Is it cheating if I pick someone who’s already kind of a ghost? I would really like to have a conversation with Jesse from Chain of Gold. I think that storyline is one of the most interesting, and I’m definitely a bit confused with everything that’s going on with that. I wouldn’t mind speaking with him and asking him what Grace’s deal is.

🧛🏼‍♀️ Dressing up in costume- What character would you want to be for a day? 🧛🏼‍♀️

At the moment I would love to be Poppy for a day (from the Blood and Ash series). Despite her circumstances, I think that she has pretty cool abilities that I wouldn’t mind having for a short time. Granted, they can be uncomfortable and not very nice to have, but it would only be for a day.

🧙🏽‍♀️ Wizards and witches- What is your favorite Harry Potter moment? 🧙🏽‍♀️

One of my favorite moments in Harry Potter is in Deathly Hallows when Harry and Aunt Petunia say goodbye. I thought that was a beautiful scene that really shone a light on Petunia’s character and how she struggled with what happened to her sister. I really wished they hadn’t cut that out from the movie.

💀 Blood and gore- What book was so creepy that you had to take a break from it for awhile? 💀

I don’t read creepy books and in recent posts I’ve already mentioned (several times) the ones I have read. At the moment I’ll choose Proof by David Auburn. Technically, it isn’t a novel, it’s a play. Still, I think the plot is a bit eery. I didn’t take a break from it because I read it for a theater class, but it definitely made me think a lot.

I hope you guys enjoyed this tag! I had a lot of fun coming up with the answers. Do you guys have any plans for Halloween? Have you recently watched or read any creepy stories? Let me know!
