The ABC Book Challenge | Letter D
Hello guys!! I hope everything’s going well ☺️ I don’t really have much to share with you guys besides the fact that I’m completely failing NaNoWriMo 😅 Turns out I have way less time than I thought. Still, I’m doing my best effort and trying to write everyday. Are you guys participating? If you are I wish all the luck in the world, and I’m rooting for you 🤩🥳
So today’s letter is the letter on the ABC Book Challenge is D! D for duck 🦆, dance 💃🏽, dress 👗, donut 🍩, and drums 🥁.
So about this letter… Apparently I haven’t read that many ‘memorable’ books that start with it. I tried to come up with a good list, but I honestly couldn’t. So, I’ll be talking about three ok books and then three books in my TBR. I hope that you guys like it!
Books I Enjoyed that Start with a ‘D’
Drawn into Love by Aurora Rose Reynolds
Reynolds doesn’t write overly deep or emotional books. But, what she does write are amazing, quick romances perfect for when you’re looking to read something fresh and easy. Drawn into Love is the fourth and last book from the Fluke My Life Series, which I think is some of this author’s best work. I had an amazing time reading it, and I’ve actually reread it a couple of times now. BUT, this book is not for everybody. This is for those that would enjoy semi insta-love, single parents, and very cute and steamy romances.
Divergent by Veronica Roth
So, this isn’t surprising. I mean, even if you haven’t read this yet, you at least have heard of it. I actually didn’t read Divergent until last year. It didn’t blow me away, but it was good enough. I had fun reading it even though I had already seen the movie about a hundred times. For those that, for some weird reason, don’t know what this book is about, it is a dystopian, action packed story. We follow Tris, who has an important decision to make about her future. After making said decision, she will have to learn to live with it.
The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken
This is the first and only book I have read by Alexandra Bracken, and I’m not sure what I think about it. I know for a fact that I read it at the wrong time, which means that I unfortunately did not give it the attention it deserved and therefore wasn’t very motivated to continue on with the series. Despite this, I do think it was good and I’m looking forward to rereading it and, hopefully, learning more about these characters and their journeys. This book is about a ‘virus’ that unleashed and affected all of the kids. Because of this, they were isolated from society and are now considered dangerous. However, we find out the truth when the same thing happens to our main character and she has to find a way to survive this new reality that she’s facing.
Books in my TBR that I’m Looking Forward to Reading
The Darkest Star by Jennifer L. Armentrout
I’m super excited to read the Origin series by Jennifer L. Armentrout. If you don’t know it, it is a spinoff from the Lux Series which I loved. Obviously, it wasn’t the greatest thing I have ever read, but I had so much fun and it was one of my favorites for years, so it holds a special place in my heart. Unsurprisingly, I can’t wait for the last book to come out so I can finally read this (yes, I’m one of those people that usually waits for series to be finished before reading them. I really don’t like having to wait for years).
Dear Edward by Ann Napolitano
This is definitely not the type of book I usually read, but the synopsis completely won me over. Dear Edward sounds amazing and I’ve only heard great things about it. I feel like this will be the kind of story that will have me sobbing from beginning to end, but in the best way possible. I can’t wait to read it.
Dominicana by Angie Cruz
I mention this all of the time, but I’m Dominican. So, when I found out about this book I was elated. It is set in the time of Trujillo (one of the worst dictators that have ruled the country), and it is a story about immigration. The essence of this novel is a reality in my country, one that most people still live today. I can’t wait to read this as well.
So that was it! I really hope that the next letter goes better than this one. Have you guys read any of these? Do you have any extra recommendations?
